Uphill Farm

I first started getting booking for Uphill Farm early last year when I was living in Okehampton. I noticed a few more enquiries coming in and found out that the lovely lady that owns and runs Uphill had put me on her recommend suppliers list as she loved my images. Finally last Friday I got to visit and put a face to a name. Charlotte, Uphill’s owner really is extraordinary. Upon meeting her you simply feel like you have known her all your life as she is so welcoming and fun. I was astonished to find out Charlotte does all the catering and cocktail making herself. I was offered a Singapore slings while I was there and I think it was one of the best cocktails I have tried (I have tried a few over the years) . Charlotte home is bursting with character, this is where she does all her magic creating wonderful dishes. One of the couples I met there said they were in fact big foodies at that was one of the draws to them booking here.

I went to Uphill to do a recce and meet two of the couples whose weddings I am photographing this year. Uphill does a small number of weddings a year so you are very lucky if you have the chance to have your wedding here. It is not a large wedding Venue that churns out 100’s of weddings a year. It is small, personal and bespoke with an atmosphere I have never quite felt. Thats right Never felt and I have shot hundreds of weddings. It feels like a home but not someone else home, like your home for the day. Set in a beautiful location overlooking Dartmoor. You get married in the barn and the rest of the day takes place in a beautiful walled garden where there is an outdoor kitchen.

The wedding days they create are very much centred around you feeling as relaxed as possible, and enjoying amazing food & drink with your family. which In turn makes the ingredients for authentic images and very much suited to my style of photography. Not to mention being surrounded by beautiful flowers in the walled garden. I plan on taking my couples for a few snaps in the field at the back which has open views of Dartmoor.

There really is so much scope for photography here. Charlotte mentioned she often stays friends with the couples that get married there and I can see why.
