Celebrating The Rain

Raindrops, love, and a pristine beach – what's not to love about a couples photoshoot at Northam Burrows in North Devon? The story behind this particular photoshoot is a testament to the saying that "the best things in life are worth waiting for." We had to reschedule multiple times due to unpredictable weather, but in the end, we decided to seize the day, rain and all. The result? A beautiful and unique photoshoot experience that I'll cherish as a photographer.

Embracing the Rain

The anticipation was palpable as we checked the weather forecast time and time again, hoping for a break in the clouds. Kath and Tim, the lovely couple I was working with, were as eager as ever to capture their love in the picturesque backdrop of Northam Burrows. But Mother Nature had different plans for us. The weather didn't seem to want to cooperate, and the rain persisted.

Frustrated and eager to capture some sunshine-drenched moments, we almost considered rescheduling again. But then, Kath and Tim had an idea. They decided to embrace the rain rather than wait for the perfect weather.

Natural Tones and Willing Spirits

To our surprise, the rain worked in our favor. The overcast skies and the reflective wet sands of Northam Burrows provided a unique backdrop that highlighted the deep connection between Kath and Tim. They looked fabulous in their attire, with the rain adding a cool edge to the photos. The blue tones of their clothing worked well with creating a visually stunning result.

The key to a successful photoshoot in the rain is not just embracing the elements but also having a couple like Kath and Tim who were willing to dance, laugh, and share loving moments, regardless of the weather. Their infectious enthusiasm created a sense of adventure, making this shoot truly special.

Empty Beach and Serenity

One of the advantages of choosing a rainy day for the shoot was the near-deserted beach. August in North Devon usually sees the shoreline crowded with tourists and beachgoers, but the weather worked in our favor. We had the entire beach to ourselves, with no need to edit out people in the background. This privacy allowed us to capture raw, intimate moments without any distractions.

Becoming a Weather-Resilient Photographer

As a photographer, I must admit this summer has tested my abilities as a photographer as made me a more resilient one. Of course in 10 years I have shot in all weathers but no summer has been as wet as this one and I know all my other Uk wedding photographers can empathise.

In conclusion, the Northam Burrows photoshoot was a remarkable experience that reminded me that love knows no weather. Kath and Tim's willingness to embrace the rain and the empty beach, coupled with their natural charm, made for an amazing shoot and a set of stunning photographs. It's a testament to the power of love, the magic of photography, and the joy of turning challenges into opportunities.
