Dartmoor, Eco Wedding

This fun loving, outdoorsy couple contacted me a few months ago to book their wedding, they were determined for it to go ahead having the ceremony outside come rain or shine and luckily we had a perfect early Autumn day. Charlie & Bridget chatted to me about their day via video call and that they really like bright, colourful and light images and this certainly matched with the style of the wedding so I was able to edit to go with this. I do not apply one style of edit to every single wedding as I find every wedding is unique and needs editing accordingly depending on the colours, vibe of the day.

I thought I would just share Bridget’s email to me after they received their online gallery….

‘This is such a lovely surprise I didn’t expect to get them so quickly!

Hollie we honestly cannot thankyou enough we love the photos so so much. Sorry I’d meant to drop you an email after but we’ve been in such a post-wedding daze it fell off my to do list. I wanted to say genuinely thankyou so much for how perfect you were at the wedding. You completely went with our chaos and kept everything super relaxed and us at ease. So many of my guests have also said how lovely you were! And you truly were such a lovely presence to have there.

And on top of that the photos themselves are perfect - I was actually back at my parents today when I saw your email and my mum has been in floods of happy tears all day! Everyone is in awe of them!

As you probably guessed, you’ll get the sense below it was quite a DIY wedding! So other than you and the band we don’t have any supplier shout outs!

So I made my own dress…. Which was a decision I definitely questioned a lot when I was battling with the technical bits of the vintage Vogue pattern! It took a huge amount of work but I was really happy with how it turned out, and so proud that I’d achieved doing it!

Our mums made the cake!

The flowers were all done by our family friend Chrissie. Her and my mum went down to the commercial flower market a few days before the wedding to buy most the flowers (some of the others were from my mums garden) and then she did an amazing job arranging them all.

The suits were all a mix - mostly either suits already owned or Charlie’s mum also found two of them on vinted! And my mum made all the groomsmens bow ties and pocket ties.

We chose the venue because as soon as we saw it we knew it was just perfect for us. We wanted somewhere that was going to be really chilled and relaxed and it definitely was. We also just loved the outdoor spaces across the venue - as we’re quite outdoorsy usually - and the view from the function room truly sold us. It was a completely blank canvas so we had to do all the decorations ourselves but our families were awesome and helped with so much of it. Anna and Paul from Bracken Tor were awesome and helped us have such a perfect day.

I’d love to write you a review or feedback for anywhere as would love to recommend you to as many people as possible! So just let me know if you’d like me to write or post anything specific anywhere’
